Goodness of Mother and Children park in Byrasandra Ward

At that time, the sun was disappearing in the horizon on the west. The two sisters came running towards the park. While one of them sat on the leg press machine, another used the walker to begin the routine warm-up exercise. Since the park was not so big, there were hardly few people and the children were also playing with the gym equipments installed in the park.

This was the scene which was found in Mother and Children’s park situated in LIC colony of Byrasandra ward in Jayanagar locality.

The gym equipments have been installed in one acre plot of the park. These equipments have been installed from the funds received by the BBMP palike council towards the park development. There are 15 gym equipments installed here which includes leg press machines, fun walker, cycling, shoulder press machine, step trainer, chest press machines.

The gym equipments installed here are worth of Rs 10 Lakhs. Youths who pay thousands of rupees for going to gym can come here and use the equipments free of cost. The timings of using the gym equipments is from Morning 05.00 A.M. till 09.00 A.M. This park has been popularly known as “Mother and Children Park”. Even though this park was started 10 years ago, cleanliness has been maintained in this small and beautiful park. Children can spend more time in enjoyment and have fun in this park. As the name suggests, statues of a Mother and her children have been installed here. Along with that, there are statues of various animals like sheep, goat, chimpanzee, etc. With the addition of gym equipments to the park, this has become an added attraction for the park, says Byrasandra ward palike member, Sri N.Nagaraju.

Aafiya Zainab, one of the residents of LIC Colony, says that she visits the park regularly with her family members. She spends nearly an hour with the gym equipments mostly using fun walker and cycling machines.

Senior citizen Varadaraj says that even though he is 72 years old, he regularly visits the park and walks for half an hour to keep himself fit. Afterwards he is joined by fellow senior citizens at the Chiguru Mantap, where lot activities are conducted.

The Mother and Children Park is located on the 1st Main Road, 2nd Cross, LIC Colony, Jayanagar 3rd Block, Bengaluru.
